SATURDAY MAY 12th AT 3PM
ST. GEORGE’S CHURCH • 7 RUTHERFORD PLACE, NEW YORK, NY 10003

POST WEDDING EVENTS

On Sunday and Monday, May 13th and 14th, you’re invited to join us for some fun and relaxation on Long Island’s South Shore. East Moriches lies about 70 miles east of New York City and is home to Matt and Elsa’s coastal adventures.

BEACHTIME & BONFIRE PIZZA PARTY
SUNDAY MAY 13th, 12pm & 4:00pm
52 Atlantic Ave. East Moriches, NY

Beach Time, 12pm - 4pm. Join us at a local bay beach for relaxation, kayaking, or just splashing around in the cold spring water (or laughing at those who do). It’s a safe bay beach (no huge surf) and very appropriate for families and children. Free parking is available in the lot across the street. If you're courageous enough to brave the water, we may just get the lil' aluminum boat out for some "fakeboarding" (see photos page). We'll have a few wetsuits to borrow. Bring a sack lunch. Park at 7 Toledo Ave, 11940.

Pizza Party & Bonfire, 4pm - late. We'll fire up the oven, fill it with pizzas, and enjoy an evening around the fire pit. Pizzas and libations will be provided, but free to bring something to share. If you plan on staying the night, refer to the details below regarding hotels, airBNBs, and possible tents. 52 Atlantic Ave. 11940

Please RSVP if you plan on attending either event.

A DAY AT THE BEACH II (come sail away)
MONDAY MAY 14th, NOON - 6:00pm
7 Toledo Ave, East Moriches, NY

On Monday afternoon we’ll gather at a local bay beach for a relaxing afternoon in the sun (shade tent provided).  While it’s usually not warm enough to swim this time of year, we’ll have some kayaks for paddling, and plop a sailboat or two in the water (if Matt finishes repairs in time). Please RSVP.

  • Getting to East Moriches by car is fairly straightforward. Traffic out of New York City gets worse as the day goes on, but a usual drive time is about an hour and thirty minutes.

  • Public Transportation is also an option. Take the LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) to Speonk. On Sunday the 13th trains to Speonk depart from Penn Station at 9:45am, 11:45am, and 1:55pm. On Monday the 14th trains depart from Penn Station at  7:49am, 10:22am, and 11:01am. Please let us know if you take the train and we will arrange a pickup from the station. Return trains back to the city leave Speonk on Sunday at 6:43pm and 8:42pm, and on Monday at 4:40pm, 5:53pm, and 6:43pm.

  • If you’re coming, let us know when you RSVP and we can suggest some hotels. Airbnb.com is another good option. Or, best of all, just pitch a tent in our backyard! We have a few to share and we'll do our best to help you find one.

OUR FAVORITE SPOTS

Because you can't hang out with us ALL of the time, here are some of our favorite locations in the area.

SILLY LILY FISHING STATION

Silly Lily is one of our favorite walkable local spots. Rent a kayak, SUP, sailboat, or wooden fishing boat for the day and explore miles of undeveloped coastline. If you're not into an outing, it's still a nice place to watch the boats come in, shop local food and wares, or grab a local brew in their tiki bar. Classic "fishing stations" like this used to line the east coast, to get non boat owners out on the sea. It's now the last of its kind.

ATLANTIC SEAFOOD

Affectionately called "Shark Mouth," by locals, Atlantic Seafood features local fish and shellfish, in a kitchy themed environment. It's a great spot for lunch with plenty of "local color."

TERRELL RIVER COUNTY PARK

Located right in East Moriches, this extensive park has miles of trails that start right off of Montauk highway and end at an unpopulated bay beach. A full walk on the loop trail will take about an hour, but leave some extra time for beach combing.

MOUSTACHE BREWERY

"Moustache" Brewery is as legit as microbrews come. Founded by locals Matt and Laurie, they've been in business for about 3 years now and Matt's been a fan since the beginning. Stop by the converted warehouse for a taste of one of their many hoppy, bitter, weird, strong, or unexpected beers. Tell them that "Future Matt" sent you, and you'll get a nice pat on the back.
